As we age, the goal is to maintain our muscles by adding load and improving contractions. In this first video to launch the Build program, we are focusing on the lower body. We will warm up with some essential hip-specific isometrics, followed by some multi-joint positions to integrate these isometrics. Next, move to bodyweight squats and bridge calisthenics to see how the body is moving. While working on these calisthenics, we will begin to add dumbbells. You will feel primed and ready to go! These compound exercises will strengthen hip muscles with complimentary exercise combinations for hip flexion and extension.
As a finisher, we will try some gliding with a towel for wood floors or a paper or plastic plate for carpeted floors. A link for a disc is below! This workout will get you going for the week, generating tension in these large muscles in order to jump-start hypertrophy!
