Joseph Pilates, born in 1883 in Germany, founded the system of Pilates. Learn about his background is family, the reasons why he developed this famous 34 mat exercises. These principles of Pilates are traditionally cited as Breath, Concentration, Centering, Control, Precision, and Flow.
